Book Review: Tragic by Devney Perry

I can't believe I only have one more book to go in the Lark Cove series. They've all been exceptional with wonderful characters and Tragic was no exception. I fell in love with Piper and Kaine right from the start and enjoyed the emotional and passionate journey they were on. It's not to be missed!

Tragic (Lark Cove #3) by Devney Perry

synopsis_thumb2_thumb
From USA Today Bestselling Author Devney Perry comes a small town, neighbors-to-lovers romance.

Kaine Reynolds wants nothing more than solitude. After an unthinkable tragedy destroys his family, he’s cut off all ties to his former life so he can battle his grief the only way he knows how.

Alone.

So when Piper Campbell knocks on his door, rambling on about being his new neighbor, he slams the door in her face.

But Kaine’s gruff demeanor doesn’t scare her. She’s set on living in Montana and starting over after a terrible divorce. And she wouldn’t mind having a fling to chase away the pain of her husband’s betrayal. Her handsome, albeit rude, neighbor is the perfect candidate.

Yet what neither of them suspect is that their no-strings affair will result in the surprise of Piper’s lifetime—and Kaine’s worst fear.

5 out of 5 stars

Tragic was everything I love in a story. There were engaging and heartfelt characters with a great enemies-to-lovers vibe happening that completely pulled me in. I loved the sexual tension and heat, and the fantastic build to an amazing HEA. It was an excellent read!

I loved the sweet, sexy, and gruff Kaine and wanted to hug this man right from the start. I felt so much for him as I learned about his massive loss and I love how that information was introduced bit by bit, not all at once, really hooking me. I loved Piper and her big heart and the huge steps she took to start a new life for herself. She's a strong determined woman and I liked her stubbornness and strength. I loved that fiery antagonism between Kaine and Piper when they meet and how it sparked into instant lust. Together these two are scorching. I loved the back-and-forth tension between them as they fight their feelings and that heat between them turns into so much more.

I thought this was entertaining right from the start. There's an excellent introduction with great details and history. Even though Kaine and Piper had instant passion between them, their relationship was not, and I loved the time span as everything played out. It was an addicting read with riveting scenes filled with emotion. The build to the final details of Kaine’s pain had me holding my breath, it was intense and heartbreaking. I forgot I actually knew some of the details that were revealed because of a character in another series and I was thrilled when those dots connected for me.

This story is filled with drama, heat and healing, and love as well as some fun, playful moments bringing in some lightness. I loved seeing Logan and Thea getting more on them and the friendships they had with Piper. Tragic was a wonderful addition to the series.
