I love The Edens series and was excited to read Talia and Foster's story in Garnet Flats. This was a wonderful second chance romance full of emotion and angst. If you have not started this series yet, I highly recommend it!
Garnet Flats (The Edens #3) by Devney Perry
Talia Eden loved Foster Madden for one year, two months and eleven days. It was on day 438 that her love died. The day he chose to marry her best friend. The day she vowed never to think of Foster again.
Until years later when he has the audacity to show up in her small hometown of Quincy, begging for her help.
The ink on his divorce papers is barely dry, yet he comes armed with apologies and promises. She knows it’s all a ploy. Foster is the king of games and secrets. But he’s got delusions the size of Montana if he thinks she’ll help him train for a world championship fight.
Except Talia has forgotten exactly what made Foster famous. The man has dedicated his life to victory. He’s steadfast. He’s determined. And he won’t stop fighting until he’s won her heart.
4 out of 5 stars
Garnet Flats was an excellent second chance
romance and a wonderful addition to the Edens series. From the synopsis, I
knew it would be a roller coaster of emotion for me and it totally was. It
pulled me in from the start and I was filled with so much anticipation as
everything unfolded.
Foster and Talia were fantastic characters and I loved
learning the ins and outs of their relationship. I hung on every word as details
came to light. I was mad at Foster, felt bad for him, and was rooting for him. My
heart hurt for Talia and all she went through when they broke up years before and
I understood her anger and why she was holding on to it. There was so much
animosity when they reconnected and a major push and pull since she's stubborn
and he's persistent. I was thrilled when the truth finally came out about the past
and everything was revealed. Getting to that point though, I was so stressed.
It was angst-filled, tense, and emotional. I liked them working their way
through it all and coming together.
I thought this was a great story. The situation Foster and
Talia were in was a bit crazy but it totally worked for me with how it was
presented. The front half was a bit drawn out with all the angst but once I got
halfway through, it really hit its stride and I loved watching these two grow,
forgive and heal, and support each other. I love the bonds the Edens have and
really getting to see the relationship between Talia and her twin as well as her
father. I liked meeting Foster’s friend Jasper and love the setup for the next
book between him and Eloise. This book made me ridiculously happy and I was ecstatic
when Foster and Talia got their happily ever after!
